Hellenic College Holy Cross Announces National Search for Dean of Students
Brookline, MA – Hellenic College Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology (HCHC) has launched a national search for an experienced Orthodox clergyman to serve as its next Dean of Students. This vital role will lead HCHC’s Office of Student Life, supporting the holistic growth and spiritual formation of students in alignment with the College’s Orthodox Christian mission. The Dean of Students will serve as a model of Christian servant leadership, fostering a Christ-centered, supportive environment on campus that is integral to the educational and spiritual lives of both seminarians and students.
“The Dean of Students holds a pivotal role in the Christian Orthodox spiritual formation of our students and seminarians,” said Demetrios S. Katos, PhD, President of Hellenic College, Inc. “We are seeking a leader who embodies Orthodox Christian values and can guide our students through the challenges of academic and personal growth, inspiring them to deepen their faith and commitment to service.”
The ideal candidate for this position will be an ordained Orthodox clergyman with a strong foundation in Christian Servant Leadership and extensive experience in student life administration within higher education. This individual will promote an inclusive campus environment, create impactful student programs, and advocate for the well-being of the entire student body, providing the necessary support for students as they prepare for vocations in ministry, service, and leadership.
President Katos has asked an esteemed group of alumni, all members of the Board of Trustees, to form the search committee. They are Protopresbyters of the Ecumenical Throne Fr. Mark Leondis, Fr. Paul Kaplanis and Fr. Elias Villis, along with Senior Staff of the School.
This position requires a dedication to supporting Orthodox Christian identity and cultural competence within the Orthodox tradition while nurturing unity in faith. The Dean of Students is responsible for various aspects of student life, including spiritual retreats, counseling services, student government, and campus safety. The Dean will ensure that each student has the resources and support to thrive academically, emotionally, and spiritually.
